A / Editor’s summary

What OpenSlop is

OpenSlop at openslop.live bills itself as the first ever open source movie, written by whoever shows up. The screenplay is the story branch of the GitHub repository Dere-Wah/open-slop: each NNNN-title.md file is an episode and each scene is a pull request someone opened. A projector reads the branch, renders every scene on Reactor, and the movie plays at openslop.live, restarting with whatever the branch says now. The screenplay is CC BY-SA 4.0; the projector and page code are Apache-2.0.

We classify it as an audience-directed show in the core tier because the audience writes the script: write a scene as a seed, a length and a plain-English prompt, open the pull request, other viewers approve it like a code review, and once it clears the bar it merges and airs in the next screening with the writer's name on screen. The README says Reactor's fast-h3 model streams each frame as it renders and that Reactor sponsors the show; we record that as an operator claim, not LIVE proof.

Our 2026-09-19 probe found the site online but Off air: the screening panel read waiting for the projector and the room said nobody is projecting right now, while the screenplay stayed open on GitHub. No public HLS or status endpoint is attached; no public live detector plus on-demand status keep the listing on demand — never a red LIVE badge. OpenSlop is distinct from Infinite Slop (/platforms/infinite-slop/), from The Infinite (/platforms/the-infinite/), a cinema companion that may seat an OpenSlop room at /openslop, and from openslop.ai, an unrelated finished-film tool out of scope.

B / How it works

How the experience flows

  1. Open https://www.openslop.live/ to watch the screening; when the projector is off the page shows Off air and waiting for the projector.
  2. Read the screenplay on the story branch of https://github.com/Dere-Wah/open-slop — one NNNN-title.md file per episode, one scene per --- header (seed, seconds, optional continue) followed by a plain-English prompt.
  3. Write the next scene by editing or adding an episode file and opening a pull request; other viewers approve it like a code review, and once it reaches the bar it merges and airs in the next screening with your name on screen.
  4. Reactor renders the approved scenes for the projector (the README names fast-h3) — treat that as an operator claim, not as a public LIVE detector.
  5. This directory lists OpenSlop as on_demand and never shows a red LIVE badge; for Infinite Slop’s verified LIVE use /platforms/infinite-slop/, and The Infinite’s /openslop room is a companion seat only.

Site probe at 2026-10-14T22:04:49.991Z: HTTP 200 (online). Recorded as on demand — Open-source collaborative movie; screenplay on GitHub story branch, scenes via PRs. Probe 2026-09-19: Off air / waiting for the projector. No public HLS or status endpoint; do not attach Infinite Slop detectors. Site probe plus on-demand status — not a live broadcast. Website reachability and broadcast status are recorded separately; an HTTP 200 never counts as live. Expired checks degrade to Stale, detector failures to Unverified. Methodology.

D / Why it matters

Why we track it

Documents the first movie whose screenplay is a GitHub branch and whose scenes are approved by viewers as pull requests, while keeping an Off air projector and README sponsor claims from minting an unverified red LIVE badge.
